They live at the Swindon Village Allotments and share a 15 berth coop.

We have 17 Chickens all lovingly named by the children who are active members of our charity.

They are fed and watered once a day and this is also when we collect their eggs.

We are really pleased with the support we are getting form our chicken sponsors , this is really helping us and will allow us to do more , we have even had a donation of a egg incubator so we are hoping to hatch out our 1st chicks very soon... watch this space!
Thanks to our kind sponsor donations we have recently purchased a new electric fence to allow our girls more room to roam and a new coop to keep them warm and dry over winter.
Our chickens' egg production depends on the time of year. In the summer months when the days are long they lay roughly 14 per day. We are averaging 12 per day, if you would like to come along and meet and feed our happy hens please contact us, they are very friendly!
The Children learn animal husbandry skills like clipping wings, nest building, nail and beak clipping, not to mention the unenviable job of mucking out!
If you are thinking about keeping hens yourself we will be happy to offer advice and some top tips!!
If you come along on a Friday morning to meet us you can even buy some eggs from us and taste the difference of fresh eggs from very happy chickens!
